What suits your invite style?

Back in September I wrote a feature about  what papers to suit your look book style and I want to kick of the New Year with a similar feature....what suits your invite style.

Some budgets don't always stretch to using the highest quality papers, but invites are an ideal excuse to blow the budget on beautiful creative papers, and what better place to start than the GF Smith portfolio. Just open up the selector and browse through the assortment of colours and textures.

They say you only have a finite time frame in which to capture your customers attention and draw them in. Invites are the entry card to an event, where your marketing team have usually spent a hefty amount of their annual budget and want a decent turn out and ROI. So the invite has to capture your audiences attention and draw them in. It is also a reflection of your brand and says a lot about you as an organisation.

So where do you start? Well I would suggest narrowing it down as follows:

1. Colour:

Wow your audience with colour - the more vibrant and the more dazzling the better. This will ensure your invite stands out in a pile of post. The best way to do this is to consider you envelope. Quite often the envelope is an after thought - but is shouldn't be - it's so important because it's the first thing people see. GF Smith stock an array of envelopes in DL and C6 sizes, and we can produce hand-made bespoke sizes for you also. Check out our Factory Services on the GF Smith website for more details.

Then look at the stock for your invite and start with colour. Sometimes you don't need to use lots of print finishes to create an impact and can simply use colour as a statement. GF Smith specialise in colour - it's one of the things GF Smith do best. The colorplan range alone has over 50 different colours.

My favourite colours from the GF Smith range include:

Colorplan Purple
Colorplan Factory Yellow
Colorplan Fuchsia Pink
Colorplan Turquoise
Peregrina Classics Ocean Blue
Peregrina Classics Ruby Red
Plike Orange
Plike Red
Twist Green
Twist Silver
Twist Lilac
Gmund Action Vibrant Arsenic
Gmund Action Go to Hell Black
Gmund Action Electric Blood
Gmund Action Pastel Heart Attack

2. Texture:

Insight intrigue with texture - chose an unusual surface to your paper stock or apply an embossing. It's not all about look, its about the texture and touch also. Textured papers are tactile and invite intrigue and fascination. The colorplan range of papers is always a great place to start when looking at texture as there are over 25 different embossings to chose from. You can essentially create your own unique paper stock simply by selecting your colour and then adding an embossing. These embossing are beautifully portrayed on the colorplan papers website.

Or you could chose a paper that already comes with a texture such as:

Twist - polyester fibres are woven in to the sheet.
Softy - feels like soft felt like material on one side with a smooth uncoated texture on the other
Gmund Alezan Wild - feels like leather with a unique leather emboss and seal
Plike - a vibrant coloured stock with a soft rubbery texture and feel
Takeo Pachica - a unique Japanese stock that feels rather foam like - soft and tactile
Gmund Action - an iridescent and fluorescent range of papers with a unique fine honeycomb emboss
Wild - a cotton paper with high bulk and an incredibly pulpy texture

So chose your invite by colour and by texture and delight your audiences and remember these three simple considerations:

1. Colour
2. Texture
3. Envelopes
